Retreat A2

Retreat A2

A glass-and-cedar cabin in Norwegian fjord country — three seasons, one structure.

A small commercial commission for a private hospitality client. The brief was to photograph their newly completed retreat in a way that captured solitude rather than luxury — closer to a Nordic monograph than a travel brochure.

THE PROCESS

Architecture that listens to the weather.

The cabin was designed to disappear into its setting. Our task was to photograph it in the same spirit: never lit, never centered, never the obvious hero of the frame. The result is a series of images where the cabin's presence is felt more than seen.

01. SCOUTING

Three weeks of location familiarity before any photography.

02. PATIENCE

Captured across late summer, mid-autumn, and early winter.
